THIS GAME IS UNFINISHED.
A still incomplete Yume Nikki fangame originally made for Dream Diary Jam 4 and has received major updates for DDJ 5 and 6.
I'm currently working on trying to clean the game up to be a bit more presentable. In the meantime, consider checking out my other YNFG, aquarium, instead, as it's much more polished even if it has a lot less content currently.
Currently there are 7 effects and no endings, but I hope that what's here is enjoyable enough.
Game contains some strong language, vague references to mental illness, at least one or two clown-like individuals, and a creepy atmosphere. General edgy shit.

This game is absolutely incredible. Since the description says it's unfinished, I sure wasn't expecting it to be so expansive and detailed! The dream worlds are so creative and pretty, and connect in such ways that make exploring fun and kinda puzzling at times. The soundtrack is so good, it really does a lot for the atmosphere. But also the sound effects in general, and especially those character noises! Very creative and surreal. The characters themselves are so vibrant and lively. Everything about them just gives them so much personality. It all made me wonder if there's some underlying story between the lines, like I'm really curious about the relationship between August, pink guy and the black n white person. Also I like how literally every single NPC has a dialogue, and some of them even have unique ones depending on which effect you're using. This again shows how crazy the attention to detail in this game is. I could go on and on about it but there's just too much! So yeah, loved this game, can't get enough of its surreal, dreamy atmosphere. I'll be waiting patiently for a new update, but no matter how long it takes I'll definitely play it when it comes out!

Honestly this game was amazing, I have never played Yume Nikki but if this game was based on it, I will have to check it out as soon as I can.
The game is so massive, there was a lot of back and forth moments, but repeatedly I thought I had found everything in the game just for there to be whole new areas to explore. I loved the artwork of all of the characters, it really felt like a dream world but that little bit of animation really made them feel alive.
I had a lot of fun trying to find all of the effects in the game, and you did an amazing job.

the updated looks and the new places I found look great I just love your artsyles so much and the themes and ideas are so good! the new characters are so good it's hard to pick faves!

Ah, I...suppose that would be fine? To be completely honest I am...incredibly hesitant towards the idea of any larger fan communities growing around my works, but since this game is still incredibly niche and I don't see that changing any time soon, it would probably be okay to allow...? Since a full-on fandom is unlikely to emerge from it (which is the thing I would be worried about.)

This slaps so hard. the dialogue and animated character portraits do a lot for the whole atmosphere.

I absolutly adore this fangame, it has so much of an own identity that shines
the world design, the character design, the story hints, I just love it all
afther I played it I imiditly went to the ynfg wiki page for this, wich I normally don't do, and saw it wasn't updated so I did so myself wich I normally don't do, and then someone had to clean afther me haha!
this game had been on my minde for days and kept retuning just like now, I've been theorising with a friend and I'm happy with my results :)c

After being able to play this game, I truly think the game's strongest points are the character designs and sprites! I think I spent most of my time talking to the NPCs and going, "Wow, what a lovely character design!". Not sure if you are going to continue building on it, but I had a blast with it!
